Controller Dead-Zone Tester
See stick drift, then try an axial or radial dead zone. It does not rewrite the pad.
Waiting. Connect a controller and press a button first.
No extra permission. This does not change the controller. Radial cutoff zeros the stick inside the circle; scaled remaps the rest of the throw to 0–1.
Worked example
A dead zone of 0.15 treats any stick reading smaller than 0.15 as 0. So a raw axis of 0.08 becomes an applied 0.00, while a raw axis of 0.40 stays 0.40 on an axial cutoff.
FAQ
- What is a dead zone?
- A band around the centre that is ignored, so a resting stick doesn't drift the camera.
- Axial vs radial?
- Axial tests each axis on its own. Radial cutoff zeros the whole stick when its magnitude is inside the circle. Radial scaled remaps the remaining throw to 0–1 — closer to what many games do.
- Does this change the controller?
- No. It only shows what the raw value would become after that dead zone.
