Worked example
Hit Start and the clock begins. Lap records the time so far, and the split since the previous lap, without stopping it. Pause freezes the clock, Resume continues, and Reset returns it to zero.

- What does a lap store?
- The total elapsed time, and the gap since the previous lap.
- Does it keep running in the background?
- Elapsed time is counted from the performance clock. When you come back to the tab it catches up, even if the browser slowed the interval.
- How precise is it?
- The display updates about 20 times a second while the tab is visible.
