The remaining time is counted from the clock, so a background tab still finishes on time. Sound needs a tap on this page first in some browsers. The words “Time’s up” are the main signal.
Worked example
Set 10 minutes and it starts at 10:00, counting down by the second. Pause holds the remaining time. When it hits zero the page says Time’s up, and you'll hear one short beep if sound is on and the browser allows it.
FAQ
- Can I set seconds?
- Yes. Minutes and seconds are separate fields. Presets fill whole minutes.
- Will it beep if the tab is in the background?
- The countdown still finishes on time because it uses the clock, not a stepped animation. Sound may wait until the tab is in the foreground.
- Is the beep the only signal?
- No. The words Time’s up and 00:00 are the result. Vibration is used when the device allows it. You can turn the beep off.
