FAQ
- How is BMI calculated?
- Weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. Centimetres are converted to metres first.
- What do the ranges mean?
- Under 18.5 is underweight, under 25 is a healthy weight, under 30 is overweight, and 30 or more is obese. These are adult screening bands, not a diagnosis.
- Is BMI useful for athletes or children?
- It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat, and the adult bands aren't meant for children. Treat the number as a rough screen.
